Most elder abuse is the result of many complex and interrelated factors. It can happen at home with family members or other caregivers, or in residential care settings. Elder abuse can be physical, verbal, emotional and/or financial. If abuse occurs at home or in a residential setting, there is help available from the Department of Social and Health Services.
