Advocacy & Outreach

We at the Lewis-Mason-Thurston Area Agency on Aging know we have a responsibility as a pillar in the community to provide information and education about our services so that the community knows about and can access information and resources. In addition, the Agency plays an integral role in being an advocate for older adults, adults living with a disability, and caregivers.

ADVOCACY

The Area Agencies on Aging play a significant role in advocating for the needs of older adults and their caregivers. This is a federal mandate under the Older Americans Act. The Lewis-Mason-Thurston Area Agency on Aging is actively involved and participates in focusing attention on priorities that support older Americans. The agency does this work by partnering with other entities locally, statewide, and nationally.

The Lewis-Mason-Thurston Area Agency on Aging is a member of the Washington Association of Area Agencies on Aging. We are also a member of the National Association of Area Agencies on Aging. The current legislative priorities can be found here.

OUTREACH

The Lewis-Mason-Thurston Area Agency on Aging participates in many outreach events and activities to provide information about all of our services and initiatives. Our knowledgeable and professional staff are in your local community within an LMTAAA office setting, on the phone by calling our toll-free number or out at an event discussing key topics, programs, and services.
